For one to become a Prevention & Support instructor you have to have current certifications in Article 9, Prevention & Support(taken within last 6 months), Skill Building, and Positive Behavior Support. You will fill out the application to be an instructor and attend DDD's 3 day Prevention & Support clinic. Once you have successfully completed clinic you will then start your mentorship with a Lead instructor. In clinic you will receive a list of all the Lead instructors in the state. You will reach out to one and see if they are available to mentor you. Once you have a mentor they will set up a day to start the process with you. The co-teaching process is a minimum of 3 classes. The Lead instructor will help determine when you are ready to teach on your own. When you are ready to teach on your own, you will have to do a final teach back with your lead and someone from DDD. After that you will be a certified Prevention & Support instructor. Your certification is good for 1 year.
